If you're visiting London then I'd highly recommend a Saturday morning visit to Portobello Road in Notting Hill. Its a great day out for the antique and antique jewellery enthusiast and it remains one of my personal favourite places on earth... My travels as a dealer take me all over Europe. Pictured below are my personal favourites where I often pick up something unusual and can be found pestering the other dealers for anything special that they might have "tucked away"...
The Silver vaults in Central London - Expensive but WOW... Don't take your credit card whatever you do otherwise you might end up with the best piece of Silver in town - but no home to put it in...
Grays Antique's in the West End of London - Not cheap, but interesting nonetheless with some very respectable dealers on show every day of the week. Worth a visit "once in a while"...
Portobello Road, London - I just love the atmosphere. Anyone who's seen the film "Notting Hill" will feel like they already know the people of Portobello Road. London at its very best.
Paris - so rich in history and second only to the UK for antiquities. The French can be hard to deal with and they know a nice piece when they see it. Unfortunately their prices can be high. But Paris is fabulous.
Munich - The dealers watch fair is wonderful. Every other month the top watch dealers from around Europe gather for two days of hard dealing and story swapping... Not for the inexperienced... 15th October 2008 My new website was launched in October 2008.
